This painting is inspired by the hanging cups in the Mercer Tileworks. Seeing the cups that must have hung there for all these years, gives a feeling of a time when they were in full use, enamel on them were brand new, sometime between the mid-1800 to early 1900, when the tiles were being created and fired there.
Imagine the creators of the tiles needing a cup of coffee or a cup of tea during those cold winter days. The spider web and spider hanging onto the cups, giving a tiny bit of life to the old rusting Past.
