I was inspired by Henry Mercer’s “Silva Vocat,” The Forest Calls bird tile as well as Mercer Tile colors and designs. I combined the outer design with the inner bird design, then embellished this piece with tile-like dogwood blossoms in honor of springtime. Created digitally printed on paper and mounted on a square 10 x 10 wood cradle as if it were a Mercer Tile, with a springtime flair. I love “Silva Vocat,” it is one of my favorite tiles and very meaningful, as I love walking in the forest, especially in springtime, when the forest understory dogwoods are in full bloom.
