Recycled, Repurposed and Redefined
I was born in 1950’s Brooklyn and grew up in Queens. My parents were Depression Babies, they taught me to reuse, repurpose and recycle. My approach to my art comes straight out of that philosophy.
Whether an auction, flea market or curbside trash, I look for possibilities in the discarded, forgotten and overlooked. Obsolete objects that no longer have value. I combine and alter, shining a new light on them. They start as pieces of objects and remnants of other peoples’ lives. I take the cast off and discarded and alter them in such a way that the rise like a phoenix from the ashes creating a new life, a new voice, a new form.
My pieces invite you to linger. The more you look the more you will see.
