Part of remembering the past and honoring those we loved is seeing and using the tools they used. Knowing they were well used and taken care of is all part of handing down from one generation to the next. It’s the story in the evidence of how nicked and scratched, time worn and smoothed the tools are that were held by the strong hands of my father and his father. We still have them with us, in the tools and the things they made or fixed with them. And they’ll be passed on again in time, and we’ll tell the stories that go along with the tools. Here, in oil paint, is Get A (Vice) Grip.
