This painting was so much fun! It’s one of a series of three. I was given the idea for the first one and then ran with it. I raided the garage to find the precise pieces that honored the past, the hard work and effort in every scratch and nick, and yet looked ahead to years of good use ahead. It’s appealing to me to take something of the ordinary and to give it a unique perspective of still having value, a snapshot. It may not be a traditional sort of Still Life but the fixer upper in us all might get a smile or a reminiscent moment of joy from seeing those old tools again. Maybe they’ll find a home in a work space or studio, a hallway or next to a calendar, and make someone smile when they look at it.
