The sculpture of the crucifixion has a prominent place in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Lambertville, NJ. I have always wanted to paint it but could not find a satisfactory backdrop. One evening, while walking my dogs, the sky expressed the mood perfectly, and I was able to quickly photograph it. The painting is the result of my using that photograph combined with others of the sculpture itself.
