Intuitive Blossom

Colored Pencils and Gel Pen on Mixed Media Paper

  • 12 x 16 inches, framed to 16 x 20 inches – $250

With winter transitioning into spring, and the flowers blooming again I was struck with inspiration to create this artwork. Like with many mandalas I start in the center, creating this abstract flower. Then I continue to let my imagination flow free to finish the rest of the design. I knew I wanted to incorporate my neon-colored pencils, which then decided the rest of my color palette and how I would use it. For a finishing touch I explored a new technique of using a white gel pen to add extra highlights throughout the work. I chose the title, “Intuitive Blossom” for this piece because, it was one of my first mandalas I created without having a thumbnail. Since I trusted my intuition, I discovered some other ways of creating a beautiful art piece with strong contrast and tasteful color choices.
