This 2019 version of Eve Ensler’s iconic play is a whirlwind tour of a forbidden zone which introduces a wildly divergent gathering of female voices, including a six-year-old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter, a Bosnian survivor of rape, and transgender women. Dramatically funny, tender, provocative and ultimately political, it is a series of interviews with a diverse group of over 200 women about their vaginas, offering new perspectives on the complexities of growing up female and the hurdles women face in overcoming misogynist conceptions of the female body.
