Watch each film on your own schedule before the Zoom meeting. Most films are available for free at www.actvid.com. Or you can use the website JUSTWATCH.com, to find out on which streaming services each film is available. A Zoom link will be emailed to you the day of the meeting.
After watching Cabaret and then All That Jazz, you will notice many similar techniques used by Bob Fosse, the director and choreographer of each film. We will hold a discussion on what the group notices in terms of Fosse’s style of directing, choreography, camera angles and movement, etc., and the similarities and differences of these techniques as they relate to each film. Are they just Fosse’s style of making movies or are they used to enhance the message of each film?
Our host David Shaw is a graduate of UCLA Film School and worked in various aspects of production in the LA Film Industry for many years. Currently living in the Philadelphia area, he brings us his knowledge and passion for all things film.
