A resident of Bucks County since 1966, Steven Snyder has been sculpting stone since 1981. Self-taught, he entered stone sculpting through his work as a stone mason which he began in 1976. Fascinated by early Pennsylvania stone architecture, the diversity of indigenous stone in Bucks County, and the tradition of stone carving and shaping in this region, he began exploring form and texture through simple carvings in native stone.
Country Living Magazine did a cover story on Snyder's Bucks County Pennsylvania sculpture garden, studio and home featuring his sculpture and stone carvings ("A Sculptor's Sanctuary," August, 1996) and in 2001, HGTV's "Our Place" showcased his work as well.
Each spring and fall, Snyder opens his sculpture garden and studio to the public for a showing of his most recent works. See "Art Shows and Events" for details. Studio (Cedar Maze) and residence in Point Pleasant, Tinicum Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, since 1986.
