DESCRIPTION:Golconde at 90:\nMicro Exhibit Opening\n1:00 PM- 4:00 PM\n1 AIA CEU In collaboration with\nBucks County AlA\nBuilding of Golconde: The Beginning of\nModern Architecture in India\nLecture by John DeFazio AlA 2:00 PM- 3:30 PM\n1.5 AIA CEUs\nRaymond Farm Center for Living Arts & Design | 6370 Pidcock Creek Road New\nIn 1935\, architects Antonin and Noémi Raymond\, alongside George Nakashima\, designed Golconde at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram. As India’s first Modernist building\, this sustainable concrete dormitory pioneered climate-responsive modern design decades ahead of its time. Beyond its visionary architects\, the masterpiece was realized through the Karmayoga of engineers and ashram volunteers who overcame the immense material shortages of WWII. This remarkable story of innovation and collective spirit is presented by John DeFazio in this lecture and micro-exhibition. \nThis event is a collaboration with the Bucks County AIA and attendees will earn 2.5 CEUs.
