SUMMARY:College Launches Search for the Next Bard of Bucks County
DESCRIPTION:The search is on for the 49th Bucks County Poet Laureate\, according to Bucks County Community College Professor Ethel Rackin\, director of the longest-running poet laureate program in Pennsylvania. \nEntrants must be Bucks County residents over age 18 who have never previously served as poet laureate\, explained Dr. Rackin\, a language and literature professor at BCCC\, which administers the program. \nEach entrant must submit an entry form with 10 original poems of any style\, form\, or length to the College’s School of Language and Literature. Entries must be submitted online by Friday\, September 19. \nThe winner receives a $500 honorarium\, a proclamation from the Bucks County Commissioners\, and a reading and reception at Bucks County Community College with 2024 Poet Laureate Lake Angela\, contest judges\, and contest runners-up. \n\n\nThere is no charge for entry. All work must be original and can be published or unpublished. All entries must be submitted online by September 19. DESCRIPTION:Wordsmith Poetry Series at Bucks County Community College at Tyler Hall 142. \nPatricia Smith and Hayden Saunier\, Poetry Reading. \nSince the 1960s\, Bucks County Community College’s Wordsmiths Reading Series has featured some of the most distinguished and admired poets of our times.  \nAs the founder and leader of the renowned Wordsmiths series\, Bucks County Community College has distinguished itself among Philadelphia-area colleges and universities\, and has become the home of a vibrant community of writers\, poetry lovers\, and supporters of the arts. Wordsmiths readings are always widely attended. Guest writers are often paired with inspiring local ones\, and the audience is typically made up of a lively mix of students\, faculty\, and the community at-large. The series gives students the opportunity to connect what they learn in the classroom with the wider world by attending high caliber free readings on their own campus. Simply put\, the series places Bucks County Community College at the center of the region’s literary life.

SUMMARY:4th Annual Bucks County Plein Air Festival
DESCRIPTION:Thirty nationally recognized artists from all over the United States will participate in the 4th Annual Bucks County Plein Air Festival to produce art from life (as opposed to in the studio). Artists will paint the rolling landscapes\, lakes and rivers\, covered bridges\, stone farm houses\, and historic estates of Bucks County that have inspired artists for more than a century. The Festival will take place from October 1-6\, 2019 with multiple events and painting locations. All work created in scenic and historic Bucks County will be on display and available for purchase online an in person. The juried show awards more than $15\,000 in prizes and culminates in two signature events\, a VIP Collector’s Preview & Pre-Sale Reception on Saturday\, October 5 and a public festival on Sunday\, October 6\, both located in the Historic Tyler Mansion at Bucks County Community College.
