WINE & ART TRAIL 2023 \nCommit to participate through November 15 \nDetails and entry forms: https://www.bucksarts.org/wine-art/ \nArtists working in all mediums and styles are invited to commit to participate in the 2023 Bucks County Wine & Art Trail\, now through November 15. \nArtists who commit may paint\, draw\, photograph\, and more at select Bucks County wineries throughout the year\, beginning in October! Artists may visit wineries to work en plein air\, or to sketch and gather images and ideas for studio pieces. Some wineries provide indoor arts opportunities as well\, to open subject matter beyond the landscape. \nReturning 2022 Trail artists are welcome\, as well as new artists to the program. Presented by the Arts & Cultural Council of Bucks County. \nAll four writers will read selections from their work followed by a relaxed discussion\, Q & A session\, and light refreshments. Books will be available for sale. Seating is limited and free parking is available. Reservations are required. If weather permits\, the salon will be held on the front porch\, if not\, we will be in the parlor at Freeman Hall and will follow any covid protocols of Freeman Hall. Masks are recommended and appreciated. \nFor reservations email info@bucksarts.org. \nMEET THE ARTISTS: \nChad Frame is the author of Little Black Book (2022\, Finishing Line Press)\, Director of the Montgomery County Poet Laureate Program\, a Poet Laureate Emeritus of Montgomery County\, PA\, Poetry Editor of Ovunque Siamo\, and founder of the Caesura Poetry Festival and Retreat. His work has appeared in Rattle\, Pedestal\, Barrelhouse\, Rust+Moth\, and elsewhere\, including on iTunes from the Library of Congress\, and was sent to the moon as part of the Lunar Codex Project. \nPatricia Goodrich is a poet and visual artist. She has been featured reader at writers’ conferences in Slovenia\, Lithuania\, and Russia\, and at the Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Festival\, USA  She has received Pennsylvania Fellowships in Poetry and Creative Nonfiction. Stone Hunting in Transylvania\, Woman With A Wandering Eye\, How the Moose Got To Be\, Verda’s House\, and Red Mud are among Goodrich’s books of poems. Her poetry has been translated into Chinese\, Finnish\, French\, Lithuanian\, Slovenian\, and Romanian. .  The River Place\, a volume in collaboration with Romanian poet Ioan Hadarig will be published August\, 2022 \nLynn Miller is Professor Emeritus of Political Science\, Temple University. He is the author of a number of books and articles on world politics. Books include Organizing Mankind and Global Order: Values and Power in International Politics. His 2010 novel is Crossing the Line. He is the co-author (with Lloyd Jensen) of Global Challenge\, (with Annette H. Emgarth) of French Philadelphia\, (with James McClelland) of City in a Park\, and (with Therese Dolan) of Salut! France Meets Philadelphia: The French Presence in Philadelphia’s History\, Culture\, and Art\, which was published by Temple University Press in November\, 2020. His memoir\, Postcards from Delphi\, is now available from the author. \nA lifetime New Yorker\, Julie Standig now writes with two amazing poetry groups\, Marie Kane’s KT and the Stalwart Poets. She has been published in Alehouse Press\, Sadie Girl Press\, After Happy Hour Review\, Schuylkill Journal Review\, US1 Poets/Del Val\, Gyroscope Review as well as online journals. Her first chapbook\, Memsahib Memoir was released by Plan B Press in 2017 and an upcoming collection\, The Forsaken Little Black Book will be released Fall 2022 by Kelsay Books. She lives in Bucks County with her husband and their springer spaniel. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Fall Salon Show - Closing Weekend - Celebrate Visual and Literary Arts
DESCRIPTION:Doors are open in Doylestown for another fantastic art exhibition and sale\, coupled with an opportunity to meet local writers and illustrators. \nJoin the Arts & Cultural Council of Bucks County on October 1 and 2 from noon to 4pm for the closing of the Fall Salon Member Show at Freeman Hall on East Court Street in Doylestown. Stop in to see a stunning exhibition featuring the work of over 125 regional artists – 250 paintings\, drawings\, prints\, photographs\, mixed media works\, sculptures\, handmade books\, ceramics\, jewelry\, and more. Visitors to the show continue to comment on the variety of work exhibited\, the breadth of local talent on display\, and the historic setting that invites guests to linger and enjoy the work. \nThe Fall Salon Show is also a fabulous opportunity for collectors\, all of whom are invited to see the show and support local artists by making a purchase. Framed as well as matted works are available for sale. \nIn addition\, on Sunday\, October 2 from 1 to 3 pm\, the Arts & Cultural Council will host local authors signing and selling their books\, as well as book illustrators showcasing their work. Artists working in all mediums and styles are once again invited to visit participating wineries THROUGHOUT THE YEAR\, to create works for the Bucks County Wine & Art Trail. \nThe collaboration features opportunities for representational and non-representational regional artists working in all mediums to create works inspired by Bucks County wineries\, to visit wineries to work or gather images\, to expand arts marketing in a variety of ways\, to exhibit and sell artwork\, and to be part of tourism promotion in Bucks County. \n\nArtists will COMMIT TO PARTICIPATE in the 2023 project October 1\, 2022\, through November 15\, 2022.\nArtists will be able to visit wineries upon completion of the COMMIT TO PARTICIPATE form; packets will be mailed to participating artists separately.\nArtist will SUBMIT FINISHED WORKS completed in any style\, medium\, or season for consideration for the Trail during the submission period\, April 1-July 1\, 2023.\nThe 2023 Trail will open in October 2023.\n\nCurated works will be displayed on professionally printed weatherproof display panels at the wineries and on a set of fine art notecards beginning October 2023. Works will also be included in an in-person exhibition\, sale\, and community reception at Freeman Hall in Doylestown in 2024. \nArtists who participated in the inaugural Trail are welcome to re-commit – and new artists are always welcome! She performs with interactive poetry troupe No River Twice and with musical combo The Starry Eyes. She is the author of Let X=X and many small\, hand-made chapbooks. Current obsessions include dream life\, embodied poetics\, ephemeral art\, and the power of persistent\, incremental change. \nBill Wunder’s poem\, “’Looking Through Old Family Photographs was chosen as a co-winner for First Prize in the 2022 Allen Ginsberg Poetry Awards. He is a poet\, editor and the author of four volumes of poetry. Bill’s book\, Hand’s Turning the Earth was a national finalist in the Next Generation Indie Book Awards. He is a two-time Pushcart Nominee\, and a former Poet Laureate of Bucks County\, Pa. His newest volume of Poetry is Welcome to Paradise\, New and Selected Poems. Bill’s poems are widely published\, and recently\, some of his work became a permanent part of a Living Anthology on War Memories published in Revue LISA (Le Mans\, France). A Vietnam veteran\, Bill served as Poetry Editor of The Schuylkill Valley Journal (Philadelphia\, Pa.) for ten years.

Her work has been featured in the New York Times\, Newsweek\, Flavorwire\, and Hyperallergic. Recently\, she was named the 2021 Bucks County Poet Laureate. She lives in Newtown and can be found at nicolesteinberg.net. \nBill Hemmig’s novella\, Brethren Hollow\, is published by Read Furiously. His short stories appear in Read Furiously’s two Life in the Garden State anthologies\, The World Takes and Stay Salty\, as well as in The Madison Review\, Philadelphia Stories\, and cc&d. He is a three-time finalist in the New Millennium Writing awards. By day he is Dean of Learning Resources and Online Learning at Bucks County Community College. \nJennifer Nelson runs Your Stories\, a memoir writing company in Bucks County\, and teaches memoir writing at Delaware Valley University and Bucks County Community College. For more than 15 years\, Jennifer taught French in public and private high schools and stories about the challenges and joys of working with adolescents form the basis of Waiting for the Bell\, forthcoming in 2023. Jennifer has worked as a journalist for Bloomberg\, McGraw-Hill\, and the Home News. \nLynn Levin received the 2021 Bucks County Short Fiction Prize for her story “Tell Us about Your Experience.”  A poet\, writer\, translator\, and teacher\, she is also the 1999 Bucks County Poet Laureate. Levin’s short stories have appeared in The Satirist\, The Saturday Evening Post\, Cleaver\, Amarillo Bay\, and The Broadkill Review. Her most recent poetry collection\, The Minor Virtues was named one of Spring 2020’s best books by The Philadelphia Inquirer. She teaches at Drexel University. SUMMARY:ADAM CAPONE: SCULPTURE SPOTLIGHT THROUGH JULY 1 | TOWNSHIP LIBRARY OF LOWER SOUTHAMPTON
DESCRIPTION:The Arts & Cultural Council of Bucks County is pleased to announce another “Sculpture Spotlight” in collaboration with the Township Library of Lower Southampton. The work of A&C member\, sculptor\, and furniture maker Adam Capone is on display in the atrium now through late June. He will be leading a public program in the spring. \nAdam Capone is an accomplished and spirited sculptor. “He hunts and gathers\, forms and fashions\, then delivers objects reclaimed and repurposed from items cast off\, rejected or spurned\, broken with age or smashed with intent.” \nThe library is a perfect spot to house Adam’s works. It is a special place where the community can experience the work up close\, see how everyday objects can become whimsical\, and maybe see the world with new eyes. During the installation\, A&C Board member and fine artist Vincent Hawley noticed\, “Like books\, Adam’s work gives old objects new thoughts; it’s a renewal of sorts.” \nMuch of Adam’s work is figurative. “I feel a bit like Doctor Frankenstein. I find these corpses—furniture\, architectural remnants. I dissect them. I find something that resembles a wing or an ear and notice that two disparate furniture parts align to simulate a toothy grin…Then I cut\, sand\, grind\, bolt\, sew\, paint\, and burn…I try to help a table leg evoke the nose of an ancient god or to help the viewer to think of an oak mid 19th century doorway rosette as the eye of a phoenix.” \nLibrary Director Dennis Stranz is excited about the Sculpture Spotlight installation series. “This program is a great way to bring the arts into the heart of Lower Bucks County and inspire people to learn more about and develop a deeper appreciation for the County’s rich cultural heritage.” \nArts & Cultural Council of Bucks County President Ruth Anderson is also thrilled to be continuing the Sculpture Spotlight in partnership with the library. “We have several members who do large scale work that will be appropriate to show at the Township Library of Lower Southampton. Their contemporary building and beautiful atrium will highlight the work\, give artists the opportunity to expand their reach and inspire the community to enrich the appreciation for the work of contemporary artists. We are so grateful to be part of making this program happen.” \nVisitors can see Adam Capone’s work during library hours now through early July: Monday through Thursday\, 10am–8pm and Saturday 9am–4pm. DESCRIPTION:Join the Arts & Cultural Council of Bucks County for the first in-person reading by six member writer-artists. The free event\, open to the public\, will take place at Freeman Hall on November 4 from 7 to 8:30 PM. Readers include the current 2020 Bucks County Laureate\, Jane Mohler\, Poets Laureate Terence Culleton (1993) and Bernadette McBride (2009)\, novelist David Roth\, and poets Tom Mallouk and MaryAnn L. Miller. They will be sharing current and favorite work with the audience after which there will be a short talk-back session among the writers and the audience. Writers will also bring copies of their books which will be for sale. \nFreeman Hall\, our new event and meeting venue\, is located at 181 East Court Street\, Doylestown. There is parking on the premises and on Court Street. Admission is free. Donations are always welcome and help support the Art Council’s endeavors to bring arts events to the public. \nMasks will be required and we request that only vaccinated people attend. The number of guests will be limited to 20 due to Covid concerns. We will follow the best guidance at the time of the reading. On board are a variety of artists each employing books as the timely theme. \n\nSaturday\, September 25 from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. – Book signing. Authors will bring their books for sale and signing. Poets\, novelists\, and a book illustrator look forward to talking to you about their process.\n\nOther Book Fest Events this weekend include: \n\nFriday\, September 24 from 5-7 P.M. – joeyfivecents. Susan Forker brings her one-of -a-kind jewelry pieces to our community center. joeyfivecents jewelry features original vintage paper imagery & resin and a combination of mixed metals and unique vintage findings.\nSunday\, September 26 from 1-3 P.M. – Carta Books. Book artist Mindy Trost will demonstrate the art of bookbinding from raw materials to tools to finished product.\n\nSee the Fall Salon Members Show when you are there.
