Even though I have not had a formal art education, I have taken many workshops, hopefully, to hone my skills. I have received several awards and have participated in a few solo exhibitions. Until Covid-19 struck in 2020 I could be found displaying my artwork at several art festivals over the summer throughout the region. My medium of choice is oil with acrylics being a close second. My style of painting is primarily representational with an occasional abstract; and my inspiration for subject matter comes from family, friends, nature and travel. I am intrigued by light and shadow and have been since I was a small child. I paint what I like! It is true that artists do not complete a painting, we ” abandon” them. This painting was “completed” and framed at least 14 years ago. It was a grisaille done in burnt umber with touches of green for the apples. I loved it at the time but was never satisfied with it. So, I added color and what you see is its current iteration. Who knows maybe 14 years from now you will find it different still?
