SUMMARY:Cultural Streaming Series - Trombone Shorty
DESCRIPTION:Take in recorded performances of leading classical and Jazz artists\, ensembles\, and orchestras from around the world in the comfort of the Zlock Performing Arts Center. Free and Open to Public \nHailing from New Orleans\, Troy Andrews – better known as Trombone Shorty – fuses the big brass band sound of his birthplace with more modern influences. From funk and psychedelic rock to R&B\, he captures it all. This high-paced\, genre-spanning vehicle of musical fusion flies through the decades while periodically stopping to rest for a unique trombone solo from the leading man. The groove and energy never stops in this concert from Vienne\, France!\nTrombone Shorty’s talent comes partly from his roots: he is the grandson of Jessie Hill\, the American rhythm ‘n’ blues singer and songwriter. His nickname comes from the early age at which he played trombone on the New Orleans brass bands scene. It was thus in the pioneer city of jazz that he initially trained\, then entered the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts where he learned trumpet. His album Backatown\, which he released in 2010\, made headlines and he is playing here in Vienna at the height of his popularity!\n60 Min. Streaming previously recorded concert. Free and Open to Public
