SUMMARY:ACME FILM CLUB THE STYLE OF BOB FOSSE - Thursday\, April 15 at 6:30pm
DESCRIPTION:Watch each film on your own schedule before the Zoom meeting. Most films are available for free at www.actvid.com. Or you can use the website JUSTWATCH.com\, to find out on which streaming services each film is available. A Zoom link will be emailed to you the day of the meeting. \nAfter watching Cabaret and then All That Jazz\, you will notice many similar techniques used by Bob Fosse\, the director and choreographer of each film. We will hold a discussion on what the group notices in terms of Fosse’s style of directing\, choreography\, camera angles and movement\, etc.\, and the similarities and differences of these techniques as they relate to each film. Are they just Fosse’s style of making movies or are they used to enhance the message of each film? \nOur host David Shaw is a graduate of UCLA Film School and worked in various aspects of production in the LA Film Industry for many years. Currently living in the Philadelphia area\, he brings us his knowledge and passion for all things film. \nTo register without a donation\, please email acmescreeningroom@gmail.com.

SUMMARY:The Vagina Monologues
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 20th anniversary of the Obie Award-winning The Vagina Monologues and founding of V-Day\, the global activist movement to end violence against all women and girls (cisgender\, transgender\, and those who hold fluid identities that are subject to gender-based violence). This 2019 version of Eve Ensler’s iconic play is a whirlwind tour of a forbidden zone which introduces a wildly divergent gathering of female voices\, including a six-year-old girl\, a septuagenarian New Yorker\, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter\, a Bosnian survivor of rape\, and transgender women. Dramatically funny\, tender\, provocative and ultimately political\, it is a series of interviews with a diverse group of over 200 women about their vaginas\, offering new perspectives on the complexities of growing up female and the hurdles women face in overcoming misogynist conceptions of the female body. Stay for a post-performance discussion with the cast and a representative of A Woman’s Place.
