SUMMARY:Poems for The Lonely Girls
DESCRIPTION:A & C members Constance McBride (Visual Artist) and Bernadette McBride (Literary Artist) share the A & C Sculpture Spotlight from July 2023 to January 2024 at the Township Library of Lower Southampton\, highlighting five Lonely Girls (sculpture) and five Poems beginning July 7th. \nBernadette McBride is the award-winning author of four full-length poetry collections\, served as long-time poetry editor for the Schuylkill Valley Journal and is a founding member of poetry improv troupe\, No River Twice. Constance McBride’s work throws light on issues experienced by most women—from becoming aware of the male gaze and self-objectifying\, to harassment\, abuse\, marginalization and ageism. \nVisitors can see their work during library hours: 10am–8pm Monday through Thursday\, 12-4pm Friday\, and 9am–4pm Saturday. The Township Library of Lower Southampton is located at 1983 Bridgetown Pike in Feasterville-Trevose\, PA.

DESCRIPTION:The Midnight Society is a upcoming regular late night horror event at the ACME. Hosted by local horror creators for local horror creators\, the Midnight Society will screen both cult classic films on long defunct media and experimental films by local genre directors. \nFilm: “Phantasm” (1979) \nA teenage boy and his friends face off against a mysterious grave robber\, known only as the Tall Man\, who employs a lethal arsenal of unearthly weapons. Rated R\, 1h29m. \nMerch will available before and after the show. Your ticket includes a catered reception at Dupree Gallery Lambertville at 7pm. \n5-7 PM Film Screening and Panel \n7-9 PM Reception at Dupree Gallery \nJames Dupree spent 9 months in Oaxaca’s Teotitlan del Valle creating an innovative body of work\, Valley of the Gods\, reflecting the culture\, people and ecology of the region. Join us in experiencing through his eyes this transformational journey and the acclaimed artisans he met along the way. \nAlebrijes\, Tonas and Nahuales. Artesanos of Oaxaca: Dive into the world of Jacobo and Maria Ángeles\, world renowned sculpture artists known best for their fantastical creatures ‘Alebrijes’. Along with several large-scale international installations and exhibitions\, their workshop served as Pixar’s inspiration for the film ‘Coco’. 25 minutes with English subtitles. \nShort Films on the Art of Natural Weaving: Master artist Bulmaro Perez Mendoza and his family use traditional Oaxacan methods of weaving to create rugs and tapestries designed with mayan patterns and symbols. With techniques steeped in cultural traditions of natural dying\, Bulmaro’s artwork is collected and exhibited internationally. SUMMARY:Astronomical Exhibition Tour and Star Watch
DESCRIPTION:The Hicks Art Center Gallery is thrilled to collaborate with Bucks-Mont Astronomy Association to present a free and open to the public Star Watch on August 22\, 2023 from 6 – 10 p.m. In conjunction with the exhibition\, Astronomical: Gazing Inward & Beyond\, Exhibitions Associate Clifford Eberly will lead a walk through in the gallery at 6 p.m. with participating artists Katelyn B. Knight\, Christine McHugh\, Andrea Wallace and faculty Caren Friedman. Following the tour\, attendees are invited to purchase delicious\, authentic Thai food and beverages from the Thai Cha Chak Food Truck outside Hicks Art Center. At dusk\, BMAA club members will have telescopes available to look through and will be on hand to answer questions.\nDress warmly and bring binoculars or your own telescopes if you have them. We ask that you leave your pets at home for the safety and comfort of other participants and to prevent potential damage to delicate equipment.\nFor comfortable seating\, attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs in addition to their curiosity and taste buds!
