DESCRIPTION:OPEN REGISTRATION for the latest Arts & Cultural Council of Bucks County and Visit Bucks County’s online exhibition\, sale\, and postcard competition is underway\, from now through November 15. \nREGISTER: After registering for the show\, artists travel throughout Bucks County between September 22 and November 15 to create postcard-sized original 2-D and 3-D works in celebration of our County’s beloved locations. \nCREATE: Representational and abstract artists working in all media will capture the essence of Bucks County highlights – covered bridges\, historical venues\, museums and cultural centers\, street fronts\, rolling hillsides\, farmlands\, covered bridges\, lakes\, river views\, broad vistas\, intimate corners\, and more! Registered artists submit process photos to the Arts & Cultural Council for ongoing social media promotion. The top six works will be reproduced on postcards and distributed throughout Bucks County through this unique partnership with Visit Bucks County. \nSUBMIT: Artist send images\, an artist’s statement\, and details to the A&C on or before November 15. Show opens December 1 and runs through January 31\, 2021.

SUMMARY:How to Get Published
DESCRIPTION:Do you write stories? Creative Nonfiction? Poems? Other kinds of creative work? Sharing something you’ve written is a big step\, but overwhelmingly rewarding. Join published writer Margaret Montet for an illuminating session on selecting relevant markets\, writing effective query letters\, submitting work\, record-keeping\, promoting your work\, and celebrating literary success! We’ll discuss resources for exploring publishing opportunities.\nMargaret Montet’s narratives of place are combined with memoir\, research\, and culture. Much of her work focuses on classical music\, her first love. She’s a librarian at Bucks County Community College and holds an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from the Pan European MFA Program at Cedar Crest College. She presents fun\, multimedia Music History lectures to lifelong learning audiences and teaches Effective Speaking to college students. Her creative nonfiction has been published in Dragon Poet Review\, The Bangalore Review\, Pink Pangea\, Edible Jersey\, and other fine periodicals. Margaret’s first collection of travel essays will be published in 2021.\nA Power Point presentation of relevant and timely visuals accompanies all components. Time is built in to the seminar so that questions\, answers\, experiences\, and insights can be shared.\nThere is no fee for these workshops. Preregistration is required.\nRegistrants will receive a Zoom link before the session.

SUMMARY:Bucks County 44th Poet Laureate Reading + Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the annual Bucks County Poet Laureate Reading and Reception\, featuring 2020 Poet Laureate\, Jane Edna Mohler. Jane\, a native of Bucks County\, is the author of “Broken Umbrellas” (Kelsay Books\, 2019)\, a full-length book of poetry. Her work has appeared in a vast collection of publications and anthologies\, among them: The Boston Globe\, The Schuykill Valley Journal\, and River Heron Review. Jane is the 2016 winner of the Main Street Voices poetry competition and a two-time nominee for the Pushcart Prize. \nJane will be joined by 2019 Poet Laureate\, Mary Jo LoBello Jerome\, Judge Liz Chang\, and 2020 Runners-Up\, Jenny Isaacs\, Maureen Connolly\, and Melinda Rizzo. \nThis reading will be broadcast on the Bucks County Community College YouTube Channel: youtube.com/user/BucksCCC \nNo registration is required.
