SUMMARY:Cultural Streaming Series – Nutcracker (NYB 2010)
DESCRIPTION:The legendary artistic director and choreographer of the New York City Ballet George Balanchine first plied his considerable talents to Tchaikovsky’s beloved ballet The Nutcracker in 1954\, creating a new staging based on Alexandre Dumas’s version of E.T.A. Hoffmann’s 1816 tale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King notable in particular for incorporating more child dancers than ever before. The staging has since become the most revived and imitated version of the ballet in the United States\, and in December 2011 filmmaker Alan Skog filmed the New York City Ballet’s annual revival of Balanchine’s 1954 version. Honored with an Emmy Award nomination in 2012\, Skog’s film captures a truly compelling performance of Balanchine’s classic choreography\, with music director Fayçal Karoui leading the New York City Ballet Orchestra in Tchaikovsky’s timelessly enchanting score. 1 hr. 33 min.  Streaming video of show.  Free and Open to the Public

DESCRIPTION:African American Museum of Bucks County Presents: \n“Standing on My Sisters’ Shoulders” Tribute to Filmmaker Joan Sadoff \nLincoln University Choir to Perform \n The African American Museum of Bucks County\, (AAMBC) will be presenting a special program on Saturday\, January 25\, 2020 from 3PM-5PM commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King’s Birthday. The event will be held at the Zlock Auditorium at Bucks County Community College\, 275 Swamp Rd. Newtown\, PA.  The afternoon will begin with a short performance by the Lincoln University Choir\, followed by a tribute to Joan Sadoff\, the director and producer of “Standing on My Sisters’ Shoulders“\, the award-winning documentary that tells the story of the heroic women of the Civil Rights Movement\, whose valiant efforts reached from the fields of the Mississippi Delta to the floors of the U.S. Congress. \nAfter the screening of the one-hour documentary\, the renowned Lincoln University Choir will return to perform an additional selection of songs specially chosen for this occasion. The Choir has performed all over the country: at Carnegie Hall\, with the New England Symphonic Ensemble\, for the United Negro College Fund\, and among countless churches and high schools throughout the Midwest. \nTickets to this fundraising event are $20 in advance\, and $25 at the door.  Tickets may be purchased online at: infoaambc.org.  The AAMBC is a nonprofit 501c3 organization and all contributions are tax-deductible.

SUMMARY:Bucks County Symphony Orchestra's upcoming Winter Concert
DESCRIPTION:The Bucks County Symphony Orchestra\, under the leadership of Music Director Gary S. Fagin\, announces its Winter Concert\, to be held at Central Bucks High School West on Sunday\, February 23\, 2020\, at 3:00 pm. The concert celebrates the 250th anniversary of the birth of classical music’s greatest symphonic composer\, Ludwig van Beethoven. The concert is sponsored by Tom and Judy Newman. \nFeatured in the concert are two of Beethoven’s monumental works\, the renowned Symphony No. 5 in C minor and the inspiring Mass in C. The Fifth Symphony is arguably the most famous orchestral work in the classical repertoire. First performed in Vienna in 1808\, it has become one of the cornerstones of Western music. The Mass in C\, composed in 1807\, is considered a landmark in the evolution of the choral mass and a long-underrated masterpiece. \nJoining the BCSO for the Mass are the Central Bucks East Select Ensemble\, Central Bucks South Select Choir\, and Central Bucks West Chamber Choir. These choirs\, directed by Dr. Joseph Ohrt (West)\, Joseph Stellino (South) and Christopher Villante (East)\, have been recognized for distinguished performances in choral festivals and concerts throughout the United States\, working with some of the world’s most respected composers\, conductors and clinicians\, and performing in noted venues such as the Kennedy Center\, Carnegie Hall\, the National Cathedral\, Riverside Church\, St. Patrick’s Cathedral\, the White House\, and the United States Capitol. \nGuest soloists for the Mass are resident artists from the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. SUMMARY:Larry Kirwan’s St Patrick’s Celtic Crushing Concert
DESCRIPTION:Larry Kirwan of Black 47 and host of Celtic Crush on SiriusXM will bring his St. Patrick’s Week show to Zlock Performing Arts Center\, Bucks County Community College on Saturday\, March 14th.  Kirwan\, a founder of American Celtic Rock\, will be celebrating the release of a new Black 47 compilation CD\, St. Patrick’s Day Party.  Joined by Andrew Sharp\, piper/fiddler/flautist/vocalist they’ll revisit many of the iconic Black 47 songs from the new album\, including Funky Ceili\, Livin’ in America\, James Connolly\, 40 Shades of Blue.  Kirwan will also introduce songs from his musical theatre career\, including Hard Times (expected to open on Broadway later this year as Paradise Square). \nKnown for their exuberant and passionate live shows\, the pints will be flowing and the craic will be mighty as Black 47 fans\, Celtic Crushers and all who love Irish music will begin their St. Patrick’s Day celebration. \nThe new compilation CD\, St. Patrick’s Day Party will be available for the first time at the Zlock and Kirwan & Sharp will sign copies at a meet and greet after the show. DESCRIPTION:Part II\, “Let’s Build It!” looks at the details of how to build the marketing plan.\nThe focus of PART II is building a personal and unique plan. Strategies for how to connect and engage with the audience and tactics for supporting and promoting art shows and exhibits will be presented. Also presented and discussed is how to incorporate social media strategies. Pulling it all together is discussion on creating a distinctive and memorable experience for purchasers. How do all of the components of the marketing plan engage to create a first-rate and satisfying buying experience for art lover and artist? \nA Power Point presentation of relevant and timely visuals accompanies all components. Time is built in to both parts of the seminar so that questions\, answers\, experiences\, and insights can be shared. \nThere is no fee for these workshops; preregistration is required.
