SUMMARY:Bucks County Symphony Orchestra's upcoming Winter Concert
DESCRIPTION:The Bucks County Symphony Orchestra\, under the leadership of Music Director Gary S. Fagin\, announces its Winter Concert\, to be held at Central Bucks High School West on Sunday\, February 23\, 2020\, at 3:00 pm. The concert celebrates the 250th anniversary of the birth of classical music’s greatest symphonic composer\, Ludwig van Beethoven. The concert is sponsored by Tom and Judy Newman. \nFeatured in the concert are two of Beethoven’s monumental works\, the renowned Symphony No. 5 in C minor and the inspiring Mass in C. The Fifth Symphony is arguably the most famous orchestral work in the classical repertoire. First performed in Vienna in 1808\, it has become one of the cornerstones of Western music. The Mass in C\, composed in 1807\, is considered a landmark in the evolution of the choral mass and a long-underrated masterpiece. \nJoining the BCSO for the Mass are the Central Bucks East Select Ensemble\, Central Bucks South Select Choir\, and Central Bucks West Chamber Choir. These choirs\, directed by Dr. Joseph Ohrt (West)\, Joseph Stellino (South) and Christopher Villante (East)\, have been recognized for distinguished performances in choral festivals and concerts throughout the United States\, working with some of the world’s most respected composers\, conductors and clinicians\, and performing in noted venues such as the Kennedy Center\, Carnegie Hall\, the National Cathedral\, Riverside Church\, St. Patrick’s Cathedral\, the White House\, and the United States Capitol. \nGuest soloists for the Mass are resident artists from the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. SUMMARY:Larry Kirwan’s St Patrick’s Celtic Crushing Concert
DESCRIPTION:Larry Kirwan of Black 47 and host of Celtic Crush on SiriusXM will bring his St. Patrick’s Week show to Zlock Performing Arts Center\, Bucks County Community College on Saturday\, March 14th.  Kirwan\, a founder of American Celtic Rock\, will be celebrating the release of a new Black 47 compilation CD\, St. Patrick’s Day Party.  Joined by Andrew Sharp\, piper/fiddler/flautist/vocalist they’ll revisit many of the iconic Black 47 songs from the new album\, including Funky Ceili\, Livin’ in America\, James Connolly\, 40 Shades of Blue.  Kirwan will also introduce songs from his musical theatre career\, including Hard Times (expected to open on Broadway later this year as Paradise Square). \nKnown for their exuberant and passionate live shows\, the pints will be flowing and the craic will be mighty as Black 47 fans\, Celtic Crushers and all who love Irish music will begin their St. Patrick’s Day celebration. \nThe new compilation CD\, St. Patrick’s Day Party will be available for the first time at the Zlock and Kirwan & Sharp will sign copies at a meet and greet after the show. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of poetry with one of the longest running programs of the Free Library of Philadelphia- Monday Poets! This series began 26 years ago by two librarians Michele Gendron and Michele Beluomini. They started a long tradition of creating an opportunity for published poets to share their works with the library community. Please join us in honor of National Poetry Month for the second Monday Poets of 2021. The event is free but you must register at http://mondaypoets.evenbrite.com \nHayden Saunier is the author of four books of poetry and one chapbook; her newest book\, A Cartography of Home\, was published in February. Her work has been awarded the Pablo Neruda Prize\, Rattle Poetry Prize\, Gell Poetry Award\, Keystone Prize\, has been published a variety of journals including VQR\, Beloit Poetry Review\, Thrush\, 32 Poems and Tar River Poetry\, online at Poetry Daily and read numerous times by Garrison Keillor for The Writer’s Almanac. She is an actor and is the founder and director of No River Twice (poetry + improvisation) an interactive\, audience driven poetry reading/performance. \nAlfred Encarnacion has taught writing at Temple University and published poetry\, short stories\, essays\, and literary reviews in journals such as Crab Orchard Review\, Florida Review\, Indiana Review\, North American Review\, Paterson Literary Review\, The Schuylkill Valley Journal\, and The Virtual Artists Collective (online review). He has won a Wilson Foundation Scholarship Award\, a Poets House Scholarship in NYC\, and his poems have been nominated for five Pushcart Prizes. His debut book of poetry\, The Outskirts of Karma\, appeared in 2012\, Ambassadors of the Silenced\, his second collection\, was published in 2016\, and a third collection Precincts of the Passion Dragon is a work in progress. His chapbook Library Suite was a Moonstone Press Finalist and was published in 2019. Alfred is currently the director of the Stratford Public Library in South Jersey.

As we prepare for our inaugural Art show\, we’ve decided to honor the LGBTQ+ community for the work they’ve done to weave inclusion and diversity into the fabric of our lives. We invite all artists to submit 2D work to WE ARE PRIDE\, a show of celebration and unity\, at the contemporary Gallery at Union Coffee.
