SUMMARY:Historic House Tour and Lecture- Antonin & Noémi Raymond Ambassadors of Modernism in Japan
DESCRIPTION:House Tour of the Raymond Farm\nSaturday\, July 11\n1:00 PM- 2:30 PM \nIn collaboration with Bucks County AIA\nJoin us for a historic tour of the Raymond Farm House. 120 acres currently make up the Raymond Farm\, which were purchased by Antonin and Noémi Raymond in 1938. The Raymonds were attracted to the property due to the sturdy construction of both the bank barn and Quaker farmhouse. Within a few years\, the Raymonds had a bustling modern farm\, which also served as an atelier where architects and artists came to hone their craft. \nAntonin & Noémi Raymond Ambassadors of Modernism in Japan\n3:00 PM- 4:40 PM \nOver a 60-year collaboration\, Antonin and Noémi Raymond mastered nearly every building type\, yet their pre- and post-war diplomatic residences remain their most interesting and pivotal work. These embassies did more than define their practice; they bridged Eastern and Western cultures through a then-emerging Modern Architecture. In this lecture\, John DeFazio AIA explores this remarkable trajectory\, detailing how the Raymonds’ diplomatic commissions placed them in a unique position as architectural ambassadors to the modern world. \nGeneral Admission includes both the tour and lecture \nStudents\, email info@raymondfarmcenter.org with your current student ID for a discount code.\nSubtotal$25.00
