SUMMARY:Poems for The Lonely Girls
DESCRIPTION:A & C members Constance McBride (Visual Artist) and Bernadette McBride (Literary Artist) share the A & C Sculpture Spotlight from July 2023 to January 2024 at the Township Library of Lower Southampton\, highlighting five Lonely Girls (sculpture) and five Poems beginning July 7th. \nBernadette McBride is the award-winning author of four full-length poetry collections\, served as long-time poetry editor for the Schuylkill Valley Journal and is a founding member of poetry improv troupe\, No River Twice. Constance McBride’s work throws light on issues experienced by most women—from becoming aware of the male gaze and self-objectifying\, to harassment\, abuse\, marginalization and ageism. \nVisitors can see their work during library hours: 10am–8pm Monday through Thursday\, 12-4pm Friday\, and 9am–4pm Saturday. The Township Library of Lower Southampton is located at 1983 Bridgetown Pike in Feasterville-Trevose\, PA.

DESCRIPTION:First Thursday Literary/Arts Salon\nOctober 5\, 7-8:30 pm\nFreeman Hall\, 181 East Court Street\, Doylestown \nFive wonderful poets and writers read selections from their work. Join us for a relaxed discussion and light refreshments in the parlor of Freeman Hall. Space is limited and parking is free! For reservations: programs@bucksarts.org. \nMEET THE ARTISTS: \nPoet/lyricist Arlene Geller’s poetry has appeared in Tiferet Journal\, White Enso\, and other literary journals. Two poetry collections\, The Earth Claims Her and Hear Her Voice\, were recently published\, respectively\, by Plan B Press and Kelsay Books. Choirs and soloists have sung her commissioned pieces\, including River Song\, featured in the world premiere of I Rise: Women in Song at Lehigh University and performed in numerous national and international locations. She is founder and executive director of the Montgomery County Poet Laureate Program (MCPL). Her poem\, “God Walks into a Bar\,” was featured in a Philadelphia Calligraphers’ Society Poetry Reading & Exhibit and companion publication entitled Scripta (July 2019). \nLynda Gene Rymond has been a finalist or runner-up for Bucks Poet Laureate for the past four years. Her work has been published in many journals\, including the Schuylkill Valley Journal\, Dillydown Review\, and Tiny Seed Journal. Her short story “Turn\, Turn” won the 2020 Pennwriters Competition. She also authored the children’s books The Village of Basketeers and Oscar and the Mooncats (Houghton Mifflin.) She lives and works on Goblin Farm in Applebachsville\, Pa. \nLiterary Arts Salons are presented by the Arts & Cultural Council of Bucks County.
