SUMMARY:Poems for The Lonely Girls
DESCRIPTION:A & C members Constance McBride (Visual Artist) and Bernadette McBride (Literary Artist) share the A & C Sculpture Spotlight from July 2023 to January 2024 at the Township Library of Lower Southampton\, highlighting five Lonely Girls (sculpture) and five Poems beginning July 7th. \nBernadette McBride is the award-winning author of four full-length poetry collections\, served as long-time poetry editor for the Schuylkill Valley Journal and is a founding member of poetry improv troupe\, No River Twice. Constance McBride’s work throws light on issues experienced by most women—from becoming aware of the male gaze and self-objectifying\, to harassment\, abuse\, marginalization and ageism. \nVisitors can see their work during library hours: 10am–8pm Monday through Thursday\, 12-4pm Friday\, and 9am–4pm Saturday. The Township Library of Lower Southampton is located at 1983 Bridgetown Pike in Feasterville-Trevose\, PA.

DESCRIPTION:Lambertville Library Oaxaca Festival Presentation: Local artist James Dupree’s journey to the Valley of the Gods and short films of the Oaxacan Artists he met along the way. Your ticket includes a catered reception at Dupree Gallery Lambertville at 7pm. \n5-7 PM Film Screening and Panel \n7-9 PM Reception at Dupree Gallery \nJames Dupree spent 9 months in Oaxaca’s Teotitlan del Valle creating an innovative body of work\, Valley of the Gods\, reflecting the culture\, people and ecology of the region. Join us in experiencing through his eyes this transformational journey and the acclaimed artisans he met along the way. \nAlebrijes\, Tonas and Nahuales. Artesanos of Oaxaca: Dive into the world of Jacobo and Maria Ángeles\, world renowned sculpture artists known best for their fantastical creatures ‘Alebrijes’. Along with several large-scale international installations and exhibitions\, their workshop served as Pixar’s inspiration for the film ‘Coco’. 25 minutes with English subtitles. \nShort Films on the Art of Natural Weaving: Master artist Bulmaro Perez Mendoza and his family use traditional Oaxacan methods of weaving to create rugs and tapestries designed with mayan patterns and symbols. With techniques steeped in cultural traditions of natural dying\, Bulmaro’s artwork is collected and exhibited internationally.
