Lake Solitude

  • 14 x 11 inches, framed to 20 x 16 inches – $500

I am a watermedia artist working with watercolor, INK and Gouache on paper. My watercolors are influenced by the works of European Modernist painters. I work from my studio from photo references but in spring and summer I go outdoors to paint en plein air landscapes.

This work is a transparent watercolor of Lake Solitude and the Solitude House located in Hunterdon County, NJ. In 1777, the Governor of Pennsylvania, William Penn, was imprisoned at the Solitude House during the American Revolutionary War by the American Patriots. The Solitude House is one of the oldest, best known and documented houses in High Bridge, NJ.  This transparent watercolor has a long view of the Lake and house. It was created from a photo reference but simplified in composition and color.
