Performed by students of the BCCC Concert Choir and Percussion Ensemble, this concert honors the value of a single citizen, male or female, in a modern society. Planned in conjunction with the exhibition “And this is how you are a citizen…” in Hicks Art Center Gallery.

Council member Jorge Gomez of Eco del Sur was a recent guest on NPR’s World Cafe program on WXPN in Philadelphia. The group seeks to preserve the heritage and culture of different Latin American regions. Their music includes a wide range of styles and rhythms influenced by the Pre-Columbian, Spanish, and African cultural heritages. Listen to their “Latin Roots” segment with David Dye here
Congratulations to ACCBC members La Fiocco on receiving a Project Stream grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts! La Fiocco is a non-profit professional early music organization that performs vocal and instrumental music of the Baroque and early Classical eras.
Dr. Lewis R. Baratz, Artictic Director is also hosting a new radio program, “The Well-Tempered Baroque” on WWFM The Classical Network, located on the campus of Mercer County Community College.
Devoted to the music of the Baroque era, the program is designed to both educate and entertain, focusing each week on a particular topic and exploring the music and performers of music written from approximately 1600 to 1750.
The Well-Tempered Baroque now airs on Fridays at 11 p.m with a repeat Mondays at 2 p.m. After broadcast, the shows can be found at the station’s webcast archive at www.wwfm.org.
The Arts & Cultural Council is pleased to announce that Dr. Lewis Baratz has recently joined our Board of Directors.
Congratulations to the Bucks County Symphony Orchestra who were honored with an award acknowledging 60 years of outstanding service in the Performing Arts! The award was presented by the Arts & Cultural Council of Bucks County at the annual members reception at the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown on June 12th.
The Bucks County Symphony Orchestra, its members and leadership have contributed to creating a vibrant community and enriching the lives of Bucks County residents for more than half a century. The Arts and Cultural Council is pleased to recognize their efforts.
