Call for Artists/Celebration of the Arts Prospectus

Artists are invited to participate in two ways in this year’s “The Four Elements” themed events. If you are a member of the ACCBC, you are able to participate in the May 18-21 Member Art Show and the May 20 Plein Air Quick Draw competition for free, as part of your membership benefits. If you are not a member yet, please consider joining us before the deadline of April 15, 2017 for the Member Art Show or enter either the quick draw or the art exhibition for a $25 entry fee. The entry fee will automatically be applied to a one-year membership to the Art Council. This is not a juried show and all current and new members will be included with at least one piece of their artwork.

The “Four Elements” Quick Draw competition is a fun two-hour Plein Air paint out open to professionals and amateurs alike. Together, artists and spectators are immersed in the creative process. After the paint out, the paintings will be viewed for judging, prizing and purchase until the end of the show on Sunday, May 21st.
While strolling through the exhibition, observing the painters at work and enjoying the beautiful surroundings, indulge and sample some of Hewn Spirits locally produced products. Hewn Spirits celebrates a love of locally grown grains, the art of hand-crafted distilling, and the “spirit” of old, unique and rare reclaimed woods.

We will be closing our weekend celebration with a Meet and Greet the Artists Afternoon Tea on Sunday, May 21 from 2-4pm. Join us for coffee, tea and baked goods, while mingling and meeting the artists

By joining The Arts and Cultural Council of Bucks County, you are supporting the vital mission of this non-profit and all-volunteer organization. Arts and culture in Bucks County are critical to our lives and our local economy, and are a crucial part of our history and future.  The mission of the Arts & Cultural Council of Bucks County is to foster, strengthen and promote Bucks County’s diverse arts and culture, thereby contributing to a more vibrant community.

About our venue, the Gronendahl Farm:

The Barn Studio Gallery is a secret garden of culture for Doylestown. The converted 18th century bank barn is part of a meticulously restored and maintained Bucks County estate with field stone house, out buildings, orchard, and gardens.  The barn was the original studio of Anita Gronendahl, a beloved Bucks County artist who created her hand-pulled, limited edition serigraphs with brilliant to pastel shades to portray her images of marine scenes, florals, landscapes, and animals, among others. Since Anita’s passing in 1994, Kim Gronendahl has run the business of The Barn Studio Gallery, paying tribute to Anita’s legacy and significantly, encouraging the continuation of art in the area by providing a place for other artists to show and sell their work.
