The world premiere of local playwright Mark L. Violi’s epic drama about Trenton’s Roebling family, who — against all odds — designed and built the Brooklyn Bridge.
MORRISVILLE, PA The Actors NET of Bucks County launches its 14th season Sept. 25 Oct. 11 with the world premiere of Trenton-based playwright Mark L. Violis historical drama, Roebling: The Story of the Brooklyn Bridge.
Inspired by the true story of the Roebling family patriarch John Roebling, who designed the bridge; son Washington, who took over the construction project from his father; and daughter-in-law Emily, who guided the project to completion against great odds Roebling is a behind-the-scenes look at the heroism of those who built the Brooklyn Bridge and the greed of those who tried to sabotage it for their own ends.
"Actors NET is honored to start our new season with Mark Violis fascinating drama," NET Artistic Director Cheryl Doyle said. "Today, people tend to take the bridge for granted. But it was and remains a monument to the genius and perseverance of the Roeblings." The show performs Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. at the Heritage Center, 635 N. Delmorr Avenue (Route 32), Morrisville, PA. Admission is $20 for adults, $17 for seniors and $10 for children under 13. To reserve, call the nonprofit Actors NET at 215-295-3694.
