Introduction by special guest Jane Henson
Creating Characters (45 minutes)
How did Jim Henson make his creations seem real? Members of
his creative team, including first performing partner Jane Henson,
Frank Oz, Jerry Juhl and Michael Frith discuss the creation of the
Muppet characters — with special sections devoted to Kermit,
Miss Piggy and their tempestuous relationships.
Creating Worlds and Telling Tales (45 minutes)
Illustrated with clips from Jim Henson's body of work, Jim and his
collaborators Jerry Juhl, Michael Frith, Brian Henson and Brian
Froud discuss the vast and wondrous worlds Henson created
and the stories he told in them, with special attention paid to
Fraggle Rock,The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth,The Storyteller and the
unique challenge of writing for the classic Muppet characters.
Jane Henson has been an integral part of the Muppets and The Jim
Henson Company from the beginning. Mrs. Henson serves on the board
of The Jim Henson Foundation awarding grants to promising new works
in the art of puppetry. In 1992, she founded The Jim Henson Legacy to
preserve and perpetuate Jim Henson’s contributions to the worlds of
puppetry, television, motion pictures, special effects and media technology.

These screenings take place in the Penn Color Room.
FREE with Museum admission.
