Friday, April 28, is the deadline for Congress to pass a Continuing Resolution allowing the government to continue spending money, including federal arts funding. The Administration has called on Congress to strip $30 million in funding to the NEA and the NEH in the FY17 Continuing Resolution.
Because the White House has called for cuts in federal arts funding now and for total elimination of the NEA and NEH next year, any reduction is a risk. Preventing any FY17 cuts now is the best way to ensure that funding continues in FY18.
Please help us to #SaveTheArts by contacting your members of Congress before the April 28 deadline and urging them to pass FY17 spending bills that maintain level federal funding for the arts in this year’s budget.
- Today, April 26: Use social media to remind your legislators to keep federal arts funding in the FY17 budget.
- Tomorrow, April 27: Send emails to your representatives reminding them how important federal arts funding is to you.
- Friday, April 28: Make phone calls urging your representatives to keep funding for the arts in the FY17 budget.
Join us TODAY by sending out a message on Twitter and Facebook to your federal representatives:
Please keep FULL federal funding for the arts in the final spending bills for Fiscal Year 2017. #SaveTheArts #FedFundsMatter
